I'm changing blogs

I've decided to switch to Blogger and give it a try. I've heard so much about how great it is, so I'm going to try it. If it's as good as they say, I'll be happy.
My new blog is here.

Fire Walking

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Beautiful sunny day
I haven't posted in a couple of weeks due to being in the middle of a change of ISP. Sorry about that.
This weekend I did a seminar on transformation with Jaia Lee. She taught us how to live the way our soul intended instead of how our ego wants us to live. She taught us that we can do anything, even break arrows with our throughts and walk on fire. Yep, I did it. I didn't just break 1 arrow or walk across coals once but twice. I can't believe I broke an arrow once, much less twice or walked on fire.
The act of walking on fire is more about breaking through limitations than it is about walking on fire.

I'm really happy I did this. I believe I can reach any goal that I want. Nothing seems hard any longer.

I was also able to meet some really great people. I'm thankful for that alone.

Jaia is an amazing person and her web site is Living Beyond Belief she was trained at SunDoor.

I would love it if you would let me know if you've ever walked across coals.

Punk Voter

  • Mood: Still happy
  • Weather: Still beautiful
  • Music: Punk
Wow, 2 posts in one day. I'm getting better.
I normally won't bring up politics but I decided to make an exception in this case.
I recently ran across a web site Punk Voter and I believe the message is worth spreading.
Not only are they working hard to do the right thing but the message is clear. Just because someone looks strange or different, doesn't mean they aren't doing something to improve the world. For the majority of the world, they see punks and tattooed and pierced people as being worthless and slackers. Not so. The appearance of someone is no indication of what's inside. It's the same with a normal looking person. Just because they look like an average young person doesn't mean they're nice.

So don't judge a book by its cover. The weird looking guy with the mohawk listening to Rancid just might be making a difference.

Too much sushi

  • Mood: Happy
  • Weather: It's a beautiful day
  • Music: None at the moment
I went to Yen Chings in Reno for sushi today and as usual, I ate way too much. So this post will be short.
By the way,  Yen Chings has the best sushi in Reno.

Today's post will give a short update on my recent projects and will probably turn into a longer post than planned. (It usually does)
I agreed to do customer service 1 day a week because I chose to be a mentor on Advance Mentoring and thought I needed a refresher course. Customer service is a profession I believe strongly in and have fun doing. It amazes and disturbs me that some people take it personally when someone is upset. To tell the truth, those are the people I want to help. It gives me a sense of accomplishment to make someones day better and I like to think if I make them happy, they'll be nicer to their fellow man/woman and the world is just a little bit better. A friend of mine put it into perspective when he said "to us, it's just another call, but to the caller, it might be the difference between their kids having dinner." He was talking about issuing refunds when the customer is a few days late.

So the thought of the week is "Be nice for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle" Plato

Business owner or employee?

  • Mood: Surprised
  • Weather: A little chilly
  • Music: None at the moment
I've been talking to alot of people who hate their job or they're not sure if they'll have a job next month or even next week and I'm surprised. Not because they hate their job or are scared of losing it, but because they refuse to do anything about it. Robert Kiyosaki (Rich dad, Poor dad series of books) said depending on someone for a paycheck is much more risky than owning a business and I believe it. Think about it; if you're an employee, you are at the mercy of someone else for everything. You have almost no control over how much you make or how long you have a paycheck. Personally, I hate that feeling. I hate seeing people lose their jobs because they were downsized, rightsized, outsourced (or whatever term they use to make themselves feel better about firing you)
Not to mention, time freedom. Here's something to think about: Imagine for a second that you notice there's a concert or seminar that is happening on a work night. Well, this happens to be something you'd love to go to and you'd be a better or happier person by doing it, but again it's on a work night. Can you go? Well, if you have sick or vacation time,  you might be able to. What if you've used up or don't receive sick time or your vacation has to be approved well in advance.
Now if you owned your own business, you would only have to make the choice to go or not. Who's your boss? YOU are. Who controls your paycheck? YOU do. Who tells you how much or when to work? YOU do.
Is it really so hard to choose? On one hand, you are at the mercy of someone else and on the other hand you are in almost total control of your life. Now I'm not saying it's less work to own your own business but the payoff is well worth the hard work.

Let's look at a different senario since I read an article that talked about it this week.
Let's say that your boss came to you and said if you work 1 or 2 hours extra every day for the next 2 years, you could retire and your paycheck would still be mailed to your house every month and the size of your check was in your control. Would you take a chance? I mean really, 2 hours a day of less TV for the chance to wake up when you want, go where you want, when you want and have the money to do it.

For me there is no choice. The idea of having to work for 30 more years doing what someone else tells me to do is out of the question. The thought of regardless of how hard I work, my paycheck staying the same, is not how I want to live.

If this made you think and you want to see another option,
Watch this short video and if it makes sense, sign up and I'll start you on the road to freedom.

A fun week

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Another Beautiful Day
Last Sunday, My wife and I went to Catch a Rising Star and saw Ron Morey and Nancy Ryan. They are both really funny. We laughed till we hurt.

The rest of the week, I worked a few hours a day on my Cognigen business and today we went shopping at the Flea market in Reno/Sparks and the golf store in Reno. I tested the new Callaway Big Bertha driver and Big Bertha 2004 irons. They are killer clubs. I can't wait to play with them. I was swinging soft and getting more yards and straighter drives than my old clubs, even after not playing all winter and most of last year.

That's the great thing about Cognigen, I get to set my hours and play golf any day the weather is good.

Oh and I just created a yahoo group, mlmpunk. It's for people who want to grow their business and happen to believe they should be judged on their brains, instead of how they dress.

My anniversary

  • Mood:
Today is my 5 year anniversary. It's hard to imagine being married for 5 years. All the good and not so good times we've been through. But you know what? I wouldn't give up a second.

I believe I have a great marriage but as with all things, I can do better. If I want my marriage to be as great as it can be, I have to do more than I'm doing now.

I'm writing this post to remind myself and everyone who reads it that there is more to love than just love and showing up.

My message to you is to give love every once of energy you have. To value passion like it was more valuable than gold. For without passion and love, life isn't worth living.

So I'm off to spend time with my awesome wife.

How do you feel?

  • Mood: Happy
  • Weather: Beautiful Spring Day
I've been thinking about how we all perceive things that happen each day.
I'll try to explain how we perceive things affect how we feel on a daily basis.
Have you ever been cut off in traffic and thought how bad all drivers were? Did you spend several minutes or hours being angry at that driver? I think 90% of us have.
Do you realize that you just allowed that driver to control how you feel? You gave control over your day to some stranger that you'll probably never meet.
Did he try to make you mad? He was probably just trying to get to work on time or pick his kids up from school or some other day to day task. He probably went on about his day not knowing that he messed up your mood.

Eleanor Roosevelt said "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

I believe that no one can mess up your day, without your consent.
What I mean by this is that if you focus on how bad the driver, your life, your job or any other facet of your day is, you give up control to another person for a day. If you allow anyone to tell you "that can't be done" and believe it, you allow that person to control your life. Scary huh?
I believe we are in control of how we feel, how much we succeed and how much we give back. We can choose what we do in the moment, what we say and how we react to any action for us or against us. We can choose who we listen to and believe.

I ask every person that reads this to look at how you react and ask yourself does this make me feel better or worse about the situation? Is there a better way to respond? What's the difference in the word react and respond? I remember Zig Ziglar asking which you'd rather hear your Dr. say, "You're reacting to the medication" or "You're responding to the medication."? Such a simple difference with a big effect. Tony Robbins talks about the importance of the words we use both inside and out. If you haven't read or listened to Tony, you owe it to yourself to read or listen. I've read "Awaken the Giant Within" and listened to "Personal Power II" and believe me, it made a huge difference in my life. You might be able to find it at the library or on Ebay. If you get half as much from them as I did, it'll be cheap at triple the price.
